Biography
One of the two original professors of foreign language at GGC, Dr. Kristina Watkins Mormino has taught French classes at all levels offered. An advocate of foreign language and intercultural education, she was the first coordinator of GGC鈥檚 Global Studies Certification Program and continues to work with Internationalization to support study abroad.
Mormino assists students and faculty members with advising and mentoring questions and does her utmost to support students' personal growth and academic progress. To this end, she is a GGC project lead on developing and implementing student success initiatives in partnership with the National Institute for Student Success.
Mormino graduated from Emory University with a Ph.D. in French and a certificate in medieval studies. She specializes in romance hagiography and women writers. If you want to know about her research, ask her what romance hagiography is. If that's too boring, ask her why the only true virgin is a dead virgin. Alternatively, you can ask her the best way to kill a goose for medieval cookery. If you want to know about Mormino's teaching style, ask her any of the following: "How is learning different in college than in high school?" "What鈥檚 so great about mistakes?" "Why are French people sexy?"
