Biography

Dr. Dale C. Herndon teaches courses in finance and fintech.

Students get introduced to capital markets, investments and corporate finance in his finance course. Classes consist of engaging discussions on current trends in finance supplemented with weekly chapter assignments and practice problems. Major assessments include three to four problem-based exams and a case study solving real-world scenarios for four fictitious clients.

In his fintech course, students participate in discussions that address pressing issues related to the growing presence of financial technology, which encompasses payments, cryptocurrency, asset management, and AI, among others.

The financial technology landscape is constantly evolving, and students will apply critical thinking to explore concepts involving payments, cryptocurrency, asset management, and AI, among others. The course is supplemented through assignments, quizzes, and a research project report.

In all classes, Herndon conveys information through storytelling, incorporating significant concepts and essential details through practical, real-world experiences.

Herndon grew up in Atlanta but spent 15 years working on Wall Street with Daiwa Securities America, conducting international mergers and acquisitions, and with GE Capital in capital markets. Previously, he worked as a management consultant for PwC. He earned his BBA from Goizueta Business School of Emory University and his Master of Science in Finance and Doctor of Business Administration from J. Mack Robinson School of Business at Georgia State University. He also graduated from GE Capital’s Experienced Commercial Leadership Program (ECLP), a two-year international management training program for senior managers.

He serves as co-advisor to GGC’s Finance Club, is actively involved with the Georgia Fintech Academy, and is on the Board of Directors for Kettering Executive Network and the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA).
